Research Interests:

I am interested in how adaptation to ecological conditions contributes to the speciation process. I study the genetic basis and evolution of ecological isolation focusing on drought response and photoperiod response in Mimulus. In this system differential adaptation to environmental conditions can prevent hybridization as well as contribute to selection against hybrids, which are likely to possess maladaptive intermediate phenotypes.
