Genetics majors are required to take either BCMB 3100 or BCMB 4010/6010. It is strongly recommended that students who elect to take BCMB 4010/6010 in lieu of BCMB 3100 also take BCMB 4020/6020 to complete the two-semester course sequence. BCMB 4010/6010 is only half a course and does not include pathways, such as glycolysis, TCA cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, which are important topics, especially for pre-medical students planning to take the MCAT. BCMB 4020/6020 may count as a major-related elective.
