Vanessa Koelling, Graduate student

Vanessa is interested in studying how species form. In particular, her research focuses on understanding the evolutionary and ecological processes responsible for reproductive barriers between species. She is beginning to look at the ecological and genetic basis of reproductive isolation between 2 species in the genus, Leavenworthia. Her work is funded by an NIH National Research Service Award Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (GM67574-01).

Eleanor Kuntz, Graduate student

Eleanor is interested in genome architecture and invasiveness. She has started exploring the relationship between transposable elements and weediness in red rice. She is supported by the Genetics Department's NIH training grant.
