We are thrilled to announce the establishment of the Kirby and Jan Alton Graduate Fellowship. The Fellowship supports one outstanding senior graduate student for a year. All doctoral students in the 3rd year are considered for support by the Fellowship for the following year. Selection is based on research accomplishments. The award is funded by a generous gift from Dr. Kirby Alton, who completed his Ph.D. in Genetics at the University of Georgia in 1981. Following graduation, Dr. Alton joined Amgen, where he rose to become vice-president for development. Dr. Alton is retired from his position at Amgen and now lives in Montana. He currently serves on the board of the UGA Research Foundation.
