B.S in Biochemistry from UCLA. I worked as a small business owner and a lab technician for several years after graduating college before deciding to pursue my doctorate. Before starting my graduate studies, my research focused on finding therapies for kids afflicted with peroxisomal biogenesis disorders. I did this under the guidance of Joseph G. Hacia at the University of Southern California. I'm most interested in doing research that will lead to biomedical interventions.
Currently, I am in Nancy Manley's lab researching the process of adipogenesis in the thymus. I am addressing some of the following questions:
- What are some of the genes governing adipogenesis in the thymus?
- What are the cellular origins of adipocytes in the thymus?
- What is the role of the Activating Transcription Factor 3 (Atf3) gene in the thymus?
